The timing belt, water pump, camshaft seals, crankshaft seal, timing belt tensioner, idler pulley and thermostat were replaced (new) on a 1993 Lexus SC300 (2JZ-GE, non-VVT-i). The actual job took 4 hours, which included bleeding the cooling system. Continued below. Important Installation Notes: 1.

The cam shaft pulley removal and installation techniques shown in this video DO NOT APPLY for cars that have the VVT-i interference engines. Doing so can run the risk of damaging valves. Not shown in video-Water pump removal: In addition to removing six front bolts of the pump, you also need to remove two small nuts on the rear of the pump that connect to the water bypass pipe. Thread locker adhesive (Loctite #242) is required to be applied on the idler pulley bolt prior to installation. Shown briefly in the video, a general purpose grease is required to be applied on the inner and outer lip of both the cam shaft and crank shaft seals before installing. Using a timing gun to test the ignition timing (not to be mistaken with cam timing) is NOT REQUIRED after performing a timing belt job as shown in this video.

(This was done because the distributor was tampered with prior to this job). Specialty Tools Used in the Video: 1 Cam shaft driving tool: 1 1/4' PVC Schedule 40 coupling 2. Hey, I just wanted to make sure when installing the timing belt on a VVTi head, where the timing marks on the cam gears and crank sprocket should align? The manual seems a little confusing to me as it starts by setting the crank at 60 degrees and not TDC like on a normal 2JZ-non VVTI. I also have an ATI damper and the exhaust cam gear is an aftermarket one, so I basically only have the TDC marks to use. Here's the repair manual of a 2JZ VVTi timing belt installation: So when the crank is at TDC, should the dots or lines on the cam gears align on the notches on the cam gear back plate? From what I see on that install manual you want your timing marks on your cam gears and the crank pulley to line up with the marks on the motor.TDC is fine.Biggest thing to make sure once installing the timing belt is to turn the motor by hand and after one or two rotations both cam gears marks should line up with notches on cam cover and crank pulley should line up with zero on crank cover all together.if you have this then your done.If one doesn't line up then you are off and need to re-do.

Hope this helps. I did my GE VVTi head like a GTE non-vvti and it timed no issue. I assume that same procedure with work for you assuming mild cams.

I did not leave crank at TDC maybe few degrees retard to get belt to fit and the aligned everything up and no issues. I was over thinking it and trying to find a cam to crank relation.

Yeah, I think I'm also over thinking this. Xforce keygen autodesk maya 2013 64 bit free download. The repair manual makes it so hard to understand but it seemed so logical when I did it without the manual. I did it like i did a non-VVTi GTE and the marks matched logically. I'll have to take a few pics tomorrow.
