I consider myself pretty computer saavy and have installed/uninstalled PC Suite 6.8 at least 20 times. Basically it cannot connect to my phone (older software versions did). This time around, when it tried to install the 7610 (hardware), it asked for the original disc OR the standard option of letting Windows find it automatically. It searched for a while and couldnt find any drivers (or related) and ended up with a message to the effect that the hardware could not be installed. Previously when i attached the cable (and the phone attached to it), windows would automatically install the hardware (several components actually such as the modem, etc.). This time around it didnt seem to find them though. This being the case, am i going to need to find the original CD? Im also curious as to why it didnt automatically pick up the phone this time whereas it had for every previous install.

I havent taken any further steps yet as far as the install. As far as the error message, it was the standard Microsoft 'Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard' which resulted in the message 'Cannot Install this Hardware' The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software'.

This was as far as the process got. The PC Suite didnt even install yet. That being so, I wasnt able to open the Connection Manager.

Basically Windows cannot configure the hardware (using the installation from the%Username% directory). However, the IMediaCont error was always the result of a non%Username% directory install - this process discovered & installed the 7610 by standard 'plug-and-play'. Hope this helps.
