I've used Icewarp (formerly Merakmail) for over 8 years with out any problems UNTIL now. I updated to version 10.2 on November 23rd and I've had nothing but problems since.

Since I updated the server, for no apparant reason, it stops accepting SMTP connections - or better said - I see the connections on the server but the mail queue backs up and the mail (inboound and outbond) just sits in the queue. There is nothing in the logs to indicate why this happens. My only recourse is to reboot the server. Rebooting corrects the issue for several hours but invariably, and at random intervals, it happens agian and requires a reboot. I've had Icewarp support involved with this since it first began. The first thing they had me do was install a 'critical' patch - 10.2.1 - to address some, yet undisclosed, vulneralbilites.

This didn't correct the issue so I continued to email for support (which is difficult when the email server is down) and finally had them connected to the server. They couldn't, can't, find the issue so I'm pretty much on my own. The only crumb that support gave me was to give the server more resources. The server is, and has been, on a Vmware server for several years. It is using Windows 2003 R2 Standard as the OS with 4 gigs of memory and 4 CPU cores. I only have 250 email accounts on this system and the specs state that this confiuration should handle 1000. I have also used Merak for about the same amount of time as you.

Originally it was our only company mail server. We now use it as the gateway for filtering for our Exchange and it works pretty good for what I use it for. I had a very similar issue to you a couple years ago. The SMTP service would consume all memory and just quit.

Some times in a day or less with no indication as to why. I had to restart the service on a daily basis. I did contact support in Czech and they upgraded my install (8.x) to what was then the current release ver. 9.0.0-5 which seemed to fix the problem. Haven't upgraded to ver 10 yet. How much memory is the SMTP service using? Mikej2384 wrote: I have also used Merak for about the same amount of time as you.

Haven't upgraded to ver 10 yet. How much memory is the SMTP service using? Mike Yes I remember 8.9.0 and 8.9.1. I had a script that ran to restart the SMTP service every 15 minutes. Icewarp support just log off of my server and the only thing he stated is that the IMAP service showed some errors regarding a handful of files that couldn't back up to the shared folder.

How much memory is the SMTP service using? Mike Oh yes the SMTP service - Icewarp support says it is working just fine.

I would agree except the sessions back up into the hundreds with the inbound and outboound message queues holding the email until I reboot the server. I just had one user report that an email she sent was received 36 times. Seems the senders outbox keeps trying to send the email even when a partial session is established. However, if you look at the SMTP logs everything looks normal. Yes, used the product since its early days, and it used to be the cheapest and best product, but over time its become an mess of a product, lots of features being added and lots of problems, and the support of the product is the worst.
