It's a franchise of winking ridiculousness, where the characters take themselves far too seriously while giving you hints that they are in on the gag. When Letty inquires if he's brought reinforcements to the fight, Hobbs barks, 'Girl, I'm the cavalry.'

It is a moment of laugh-out-loud absurdity, and there are lots of others throughout the wild ride of Furious 7.
